James Fong£¬Microsoft Greater China Region£¬Director of Strategy, Investments & Business Operations Close Window

James joined Microsoft in 1999 as the product manager for Microsoft Project responsible for managing worldwide partners and launching Microsoft Project Central. He assumed his current position as the Director of Strategy, Investments and Business Operations for Microsoft Greater China Region in April, 2004. Prior to his current role, James was the Windows Client Business Group Lead responsible for the Microsoft Windows business in China and was the China Lead on the Microsoft Windows Emerging Markets team.

Since he started working in China in 2002, James has established a $25M China Technology Center in Beijing, launched a $14M rural education program for K-12 students with China¡¯s Ministry of Education, managed Microsoft¡¯s cooperative efforts with the Chinese government on legalizing its IT infrastructure, and is currently managing Microsoft¡¯s expansion efforts and investment portfolio in China.

Prior to Microsoft, James served 8½ years in the U.S. Air Force. He has an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
